Motorcycling Grand Prix at Montmeló
This June from the 14th until the 16th, at the Montmeló – Barcelona circuit the Motorcycling Grand Prix will be held. In the Circuit de Catalunya, the Catalonia motor racing track you will be able to enjoy the biggest names in the World Championship. The first two days of the competition you will be able to see in the track the training sessions along with the qualifying rounds in many categories: 125cc, Moto 2 and Moto GP. On Sunday starts the great race.
This will be the 28th consecutive time the Grand Prix will be held in the Barcelona track. The first time was in 1992. The length of the track for the motorcycle configuration is 4.627 kilometers and consists of many long straight lines along with a variety of corners. It has stands that can accommodate around 140.700 people.
Wherever you might be staying in Barcelona getting to Montmeló is very easy. You can catch the train to there from three station and the one-way ticket costs 2.55 euros. If you decide to go from Sants the journey is about 30 minutes. After that, you will have to walk around 30 minutes from the station until the track. Keep in mind, though, that during the Moto GP there is a shuttle bus that gets you from the station to the circuit.
Motorcycle culture in Barcelona: races and clubs
Many people do not believe this but Spain and Barcelona in particular has a huge motorcycle culture and many different clubs. One of them and probably the most famous worldwide is that of Ángeles del Infierno Motoclub España, a branch of the international Hells Angels. Another one is the Barna International Moto Club, a social group where people meet and ride together exploring Barcelona and the surrounding areas. They do many Motorrad days enjoying the beach, the taps and the open road.
The racetrack in Montmeló and the presence of clubs provides you with another reason to visit Barcelona.
