Shopping day in Barcelona: places for all budgets

Barcelona is a city we could talk about for years. While discovering this incredible place, we organize many different visits: Gaudí’s works are a must. Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and other gorgeous constructions such as Casa Batlló, Casa Vicens (recently opened to visitors) or Casa Milà. We also will enjoy walks through Gothic neighborhood, El Born, La Barceloneta and the beach. In our hiking day, we will discover hills around the Catalan capital: Montjuïc and Collserola.

All these are incredible plans, but we also will need some time to relax and recharge our batteries. In this case, we recommend a shopping day in Barcelona.

In this post we present the best places to enjoy a shopping day in Barcelona.

Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas is the most famous street of Barcelona together with Passeig de Gràcia. There, we find a wide range of small stands offering souvenirs, flowers and snacks and ice-creams.

Leaving our apartment in Las Ramblas to walk along this street is always a unique experience. The colors of the city, the music of street musicians playing their instruments and street performers create an unforgettable environment.

Additionally, next to Las Ramblas we find Portal de l’Àngel, where the most famous clothing stores are placed.

Passeig de Gràcia

Some clues about our next destination: it is a street full of modernistic buildings with constructions designed by Antonio Gaudí and Josep Puig i Cadafalch. Of course, we are talking about Passeig de Gràcia, the most luxurious and cosmopolitan street in Barcelona.

There, we find shops related to luxury and glamour like Valentino, Prada or Louis Vuitton.

But glamour is not only about clothing, is it? In Passeig de Gràcia we find precious restaurants and coffeeshops where we can enjoy the best gastronomy surrounded by the cosmopolitan atmosphere that this amazing street breaths.

Malls

If you are a mall lover, Barcelona won’t disappoint you. Here, you will find the most original shopping centers.

Arenas is the name of the most known mall of Barcelona. Originally, it was a bull ring, but after the celebration of the last bullfight there in 1977, it was abandoned. Finally, in 2011, Las Arenas were reopened as a mall with multitude of stores, restaurants and even a cinema.

But Arenas is not the only mall we find in Barcelona, there are also L’Illa Diagonal and Diagonal Mar, located just next to the sea. Both are great places where we can spend a fantastic shopping day in Barcelona.

Neighborhood shopping

One of the main characteristics of Barcelona is the neighborhood life. All the areas of the city have special and unique personality and charm.

That is why we find different places where do some shopping, either luxurious shops in Passeig de Gràcia and Eixample and small locals and traditional markets in Sants, El Clot or Sant Antoni.

Barcelona is also a city of markets. There is one market in every neighborhood where we can buy delicious gastronomic products with the best quality.
